I'm not much for ceremony, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that today was my one-year anniversary of editing Idolator, and I'd be further remiss if I didn't take a second to thank all of you reading out there for coming by, reading, commenting, tipping, and generally keeping me on my toes. Click the photo for a YouTube clip of the song that has defined most of my editorship, for better or for worse.
(Honestly, if I could get away with posting YouTube clips from Home Movies all day one day, I would.)

Happy anniversary!
Seconded! And having just visited friends who were running Home Movies episodes off and on throughout the weekend I endorse this sentiment.
Happy anni, Your Editorship!
happy anniversary! you're doing a heckuva job.
Happy anniversary. I want to eat that cupcake.
You tell me who says you can't post Home Movies clips all day so that I can find them and hurt them.
Happy anniversary!
Congrats, and keep up the good work!
I <3 MJ and Home Movies clips! Happy anniversary.
Congrats, Maura, you're the best part time boss I've ever had.
Congratulations. Idolator is miles ahead of all of the pointless riff raff out there on the interwebs.
I was expecting to be rick-rolled.
Congrats.
Thanks for a year of great at-work reading and turning me onto some good music.
congratulations!
mazel tov!
Cheers to that.
Bravo!
On the morning of July 2, 2007, the New York Metropolitans were 46-34 and in first place in the NL East. Also on that morning, Maura Johnston skipped her way over to the Idolator flophouse and eased herself into the Editor's chair with her future as bright as the Mets' playoff hopes.
The Mets went 42-40 over the rest of the season, and we all know what happened to them as a result of that. Meanwhile, Maura agreed to liveblog the MTV Video Music Awards, and we all know what happened to her as a result of that.
Fast forward to the morning of July 2, 2008. The Mets are 41-42 and in third place in the NL East. Meanwhile, back at the Idolator flophouse, Maura is still in that Editor's chair, and she's forced to write for our pleasure about the number one song on the Hot 100, "I Kissed A Girl".
Maura, thank you for suffering through the mediocre play of the Mets, and thank you for suffering through Katy Perry for us.
Let's do this again next year.

P.S. Did you bring enough cupcakes for the whole class???
Happy anniversary! We should all throw in to get you a six layer cake.
Excellent work, Maura! Happy Anniversary.
And no, I don't blame you for the Atlanta Braves' woes of the past year...
