Partie Traumatic, the debut full-length from last October’s band-of-the-moment Black Kids, is now streaming on MySpace. The album is recommended to the young, the happy, the idealistic, dancing silhouettes wearing earbuds who wish the Ting Tings sounded more like “a band,” and those who would love Hot Hot Heat if they weren’t so 2002. They should tour with Ima Robot and the 1990s
The intro to the first song is my favorite moment in music of the whole year. But then everything else is such a letdown.
Debut album being released = backlash commence!
Ever see this band live? DOODY.
Black Kids? They’re still around?
@owenmeany: Yes. They are awful. Bernard Butler did a *lot* of spit-polishing on this album, it seems.
@Maura Johnston: That guitar solo on the new version of the I’m Not Gonna… is still really sharp, though.
This is horrible, but as I said elsewhere:
What the hell are people complaining about the added production values? IT’S NOT LIKE THEY STARTED OUT WITH ANY GOOD SONGS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I saw them open for Cut Copy a couple months ago. Every song was just a touch too slow to be dancey, but the small crowd was pretty rapturous. All said, the album sounds pretty good, but good luck dancing to any of it.
not sure where youre all coming from but I saw them at making time and they were GREAT!
