In advance of this weekend’s E3 Media and Business Summit, during which many video game geeks will converge on a convention center in hopes of finding out what will attach them to their personal couches for the next few months before the next E3, someone took it upon themselves to leak what they’re claiming are the song menus for Rock Band 2. The list’s veracity is debatable–it looks not unlike every fanboy’s dream air-guitar playlist, featuring “November Rain,” “Peace Sells,” and “Crazy Train,” not to mention “Hot For Teacher”–but hey, if I can spend a rainy night trying to perfect the rhythms of a track from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ underrated Show Your Bones, I’ll be happy. Full list of tracks after the jump.

Rumor: Rock Band 2 Set List Leaked On YouTube [PS3FanBoy.com]

Its strange to see this is the first time we’ve seen an Incubus song in a Rock Band or GH game. Their songs always seemed to be tailor-made for this genre.
PS Aqualung! About time!
I’m calling shennanigans based solely on the ranking of various songs.
“Zombie” in all its four 1st postion chord goodness is “Moderatly” hard, yet “Sultan’s of Swing” is merely challenging. And if it’s Rock Band, then vocals are involved, so any Journey song should be on the harder side of the ranking. “Folsum Prison Blues” may be awesome, but it’s certainly an easy song to perform.
Subjective? Sure. I just think it’s a tad silly to think that songs that have been on previous Gutiar Hero/Rock Band games would be reused, and the sheer amount of “awesome” songs on their would make the licensing of this thing insane.
@SomeSound-MostlyFury: The first Guitar Hero has “Stellar.”
it could be a beta version of the menu meant simply to test the menus. meaning this could be a “developer’s wish list” of songs, further meaning that many of them will, in fact, be in the final game.
but i wonder about “are you gonna go my way” (among many others, of course) which has already been used in ads for Guitar Hero: World Tour. and since this whole harmonix/activision rivalry seems so acrimonious, i’d bet that securing exclusivity on songs is something they’re both trying to do.
@SomeSound-MostlyFury:
“Stellar” is one of the “Thrash and Burn” tracks on the first Guitar Hero.
@My Friend Edward:
Whoops, too slow.
@westartedthis: They might both be trying to do it but GH3 and RB had some overlap (like Cherub Rock) so it’s not unprecedented.
@Dead Air ummm Dead Air: Ace of Spades was on the very first GH and it’s been confirmed by Harmonix themselves.
But I’m with you on the Zombie placement. That song is the first song I ever learned on a real guitar and it’s not even that tough to sing. I would put it in the very first round. It’s a lot easier than some of those tracks for sure.
Do want. But I know this isn’t confirmed because Kotaku (you know, the Gawker video game blog) hasn’t picked up on it.
this track listing is further proof that video game designers (or their marketing peers) are better at putting together play lists than radio GMs.
@Rock You Like An Iracane: Not only did they pick up on it, they confirm the same songs.
Panic Attack is DREAM THEATER, not the Paddingtons!
[kotaku.com]
@noamjamski: bah, sorry about that. i thought i’d fixed all the incorrect attributions.
@R. Morast: Really? This list basically screams “Jack FM” to me.
This list is fake. Multiple sites (including that kotaku article linked above) are reporting that the song panic attack is confirmed to be dream theater but this video has it shown as finger eleven (4 seconds in). I think the 60 songs list (which is posted somewhere on kotaku) is probably a lot closer to the real one
also, The list that includes teenage riot and alex chilton is the one I’m hoping is real…
Even if this menu is true, “Hello There” is much more likely to be Cheap Trick than John Prine’s “Hello IN There.”
Oh, the lols.
Not that it wouldn’t be awesome if players were forced to master an acoustic ballad about senior citizens to achieve the rank of “solid.”
@cbatson: I liked that list too. Hell, just give me a game full of ‘Mats songs, and I’d be set.
