E! gossip Marc Malkin is claiming that Alicia Keys has won the race to provide a song for the next James Bond movie, a race that had previously been led by Amy Winehouse, Duffy, and Annie Lennox. The movie is due out in November, and as of now Keys' rep isn't commenting, which, as we all know, means that she's probably in the studio with Mark Ronson as I type this. But I'm kind of bummed out that recent Ronson collaborators Duran Duran were apparently also under consideration to write a new theme for the flick; even though Red Carpet Massacre was somewhat underwhelming, I'd have to think that being forced to revisit one of their finest moments would have wrung some sort of creative inspiration out of Simon, John, Roger, and Nick.
Hey, Grace Jones is on the comeback trail, too! I bet she'd definitely have been up for a video cameo.

"UNDERWHELMING"?! You are dead to me, Johnston. Dead to me.
I'd like to note that with Andy Taylor gone and Roger Taylor mostly replaced by a drum machine, 'Red Carpet Massacre' is basically 'Notorious'-era Duran Duran.
Yep, these are the things I think about.
@Chris N.: Given the time of year that the movie is coming out in they could have just remade "Winter Marches On."
@NedRaggett: I love you for that reference.
@NedRaggett: And where did out avatar pictures go?
What is it about Alicia Keys that people find so fascinating? Everything about her is pedestrian. She's like Ashanti after a couple years of piano lessons.
@Superawesomerad: i don't get it either.
i was hoping for something a little more interesting this time around. it has been soooooo long since there was a great bond theme, and that was when bassey was still belting them out. madonna, chris cornell, sheryl crow... really? is this the best that we have to offer in this day and age? if so, it is truly a sad thing.
I could have sworn Beyonce was attached to this now, right?
@spazandmojo: Cornell's theme was actually pretty good, I thought.
die another day was awesome. the chris cornell song less so. but i kind of wish they'd do like they did with 'tomorrow never dies,' which somehow got theme songs from sheryl crow AND pulp AND kd lang (whose song was the best, by the way...)
