Did Bloomingdale’s Leak Beatles/iTunes News?

bloomingdalesbag.jpgIf you’re a Beatles fan, prepare to be either horrified or economically exploited by the holiday lineup at Bloomingdale’s; the retail chain has gone frantic for the Fab Four. Between Beatles t-shirts designed by Marc Jacobs and St. Pepper’s jackets by Met View, there’s something for nearly everyone with money to spend and dubious tastes in aesthetics. More surprising is the announcement that the store will sell “an exclusive limited-edition Beatles iPod has been created, stocked with the band’s classics.” Only a thousand of these iPods will be available, apparently–but is this some sign of more Beatles/iTunes crossover to come? “but is this some sign of more Beatles/iTunes crossover to come?”

    BRING IT ON!

    That’s badass

    I’m no huge Beatles fan but I now know exactly where to shop for my Stepdad this Holiday season.

    I read through about half of this post thinking it was about Battles. It was confusing

    @Defenestrated:

    Ralph: What’s a battle?

    Superintendent Chalmers: Did that boy say “What’s a battle?”

    Principal Skinner: No! He said “What’s that rattle?” The heating ducts here make a lot of noise.

    Idolator’s been around since late ‘06, and we (I’ve been guilty, too) have been running predictions of the Beatles catalog on iTunes pretty much since then. I gave up believing any of them sometime in ‘07. I’m filing this alongside Chinese Democracy.

    @Chris Molanphy: You guys aren’t the only ones though. I still just don’t get why it’s such a big deal, unless they are planning on releasing new material or something like that. I mean, I understand it’s the Beatles and all that, but considering anyone can rip a Beatles CD, I just don’t get what’s so exciting about being able to buy them via the iTunes store. So, I wish it would just happen already and maybe we could move on.

    After all this time, The Beatles’ foray into the iPod/iTunes realm is courtesy of Bloomingdales?!

    @cheesebubble: I know. The idea has rendered me almost as speechless as Heath Ledger’s scary-looking Batman. I think I need a break from the Internets.

    I may be wrong, but I thought you couldn’t pre load an iPod, since you’re supposed to sync it with you machine which would wipe whatever was preloaaded? Which is why the U2 iPod came with a certificate to download the U2 catalog.
