The Boredoms are once again bringing a drum-heavy composition by their leader, Eye, to the great outdoors; 88BoaDrum is an 88-minute composition by Eye that will be performed at the La Brea Tar Pits and on the Brooklyn waterfront come Aug. 8. (Because it’s 8.8.8, you know.) This year, the whole shebang is sponsored by Nike; the shoe company, which will also be celebrating the opening of the ’08 Olympics that day, is capitalizing on the diehard fandom and deep pockets of Boredoms aficionados commemorating the event with the “88Boadrum NSW Tee collection,” which will no doubt be available at a Fader party near you imminently. Somewhat surprisingly, there was no announcement about there being a rush-released Pharrell remix of the shows, but give it time. [Pitchfork]
