Another day, another list of rumored songs for one of those games where you pick up a plastic guitar and try to be more proficient at recreating yesteryear’s hits than the guys in Rush. This time, the alleged list is for Guitar Hero World Tour, which is set to come out in October, and some of the songs seem like they’ll be fun to try and recreate, particularly “Hot For Teacher.” (Who else is looking forward to being America’s favorite game show host in the privacy of your own home?) While there are some dubious picks (”Santeria” by Sublime will make any Guitar Hero party approximately 62% more unbearable, for example), there are also a few songs that I would kill to try out (hint, hint)–like “Hold The Line” by Toto, which, as some of you might know, is one of my favorite songs of all time, and Stone Temple Pilots’ somewhat underrated “Vasoline.” The full list (via Joystiq) after the jump.

Oh and there’s also the whole Death Magnetic “download it to your game system, since you’ll probably download it to your MP3 player without paying for it, you ungrateful kids” thing, too. Yay?

“Roland”?
I’ve more or less given up on Guitar Hero after 3, and I don’t have enough money or friends (*tear*) for Rock Band. Still, the thought of doing a plastic guitar rock out to “Everlong” makes me smile.
Also, unless “Stinkfist” is listed as “Song Number 2,” I call fake.
“Guitar Battle Vs. Sting”
“Guitar Battle Vs. Sting”
“Guitar Battle Vs. Sting”
And agh, the “Funk” tour consists of RHCP, RATM and the Beastie Boys (and not even the early ’90s “hey guys let’s be the Meters” Beastie Boys). That’s hilariously wrong.
I can’t believe they are bringing back the “battles.” By far the worst part of GHIII.
The soloing at the end of Paradise City should be painfully awesome.
My favorite part about these lists is easily that everyone assumes Dream Theater is pretentious enough to spell their name “Dream Theatre”. Good assumption, even if wrong. (ps: I <3 DT!)
So many D songs to choose from, and they go with “Car Chase City”? Come on guys, let’s get some “Wonder Boy” or at least “Beelzeboss.”
Its a fairly believable list, although I’m dubious about getting Pink Floyd on there.
Three Tool songs? At The Drive-In there too? By no means am I screaming “sell out!”, becasue I’m all for getting paid, but I always kind of thought those bands weren’t into the licensing of their stuff. Just took me by surprise.
“Spin The Black Circle” is the first song I want to play. That song shreds. Looks like a decent list overall.
if you really want to play vasoline why not just play Rock Band? It’s in the first game
I would’ve figured the Lands End tour would feature more sensible monogrammed mock turtlenecks.
I’m pretty sure I heard a credible rumor that you can play the songs from GH:WT with Rock Band instruments. So, basically, shelling out for both games but only buying one set of instruments if you want all the songs known to man.
Does anybody see the natural promotional tie-in with KFC for the Buckethead tune? The mind boggles at the potential.
