In what I have to applaud as a savvy way to maximize pageviews from bored Internet rubberneckers, Brooklyn Vegan has put up another post full of pictures from Sunday’s inexplicably packed MGMT/Ting Tings show at McCarren Pool. Will the comments on that thread (currently at 64 and counting!) reach the nameless-asshole heights seen yesterday? well, i appreciate you both helping me toward my unrealized-by-my-conscious-mind goal. gosh, i’m so lucky.
look, I know it’s not fair to compare but the only time I see more than two comments here is when it’s some ‘insidery’ music post with comments by people in the music business. I’m not sure what the right thing to do would be to generate some more commenter discourse.
@Cheap Shot: I think you might be making some incorrect assumptions there.
Only when Idolator gets a slot on Sirius Left of Center “Blog Radio” will hipster grab-asses feel comfortable making their presence known around here.
@Cheap Shot: The Rock the Bells recap with 11 comments (as of this post) today is quite ‘insidery’, sure.
@Cheap Shot: You might start by making intelligent comments about the post itself instead of taking cheap shots about the number of comments. Maybe you have something intelligent to say about the way Brooklyn Vegan seems to be pandering to its audience (”Search for yourself in one of our 200 pictures of the MGMT show! Look! There you are! Now text all your friends about it!”). But judging by your alias, I guess we’ll never know.
@Ned Raggett: Ned your like one of the few people I see here. The reason why I’m dumbfounded is because this is a blog about MUSIC. something so subjective should get more attention, no?
@The Illiterate: Hey I’m not defending Brooklyn Vegan, but it doesn’t pander to anyone. The doors are wide open for comments unlike here which is a good thing. I mean no harm, I’m just wondering why people don’t make themselves known around these here parts is all.
Oh and it’s not about quantity of comments, the quality is important and I do see quality comments here, I would just like to see more.

But if you’re trying to start a smear campaign so you can… I don’t even know, I guess reprise your little boogie-down… at least get your facts right, OK? @Cheap Shot: I think many people who read this blog subscribe to the “If you don’t have anything worth saying, don’t say anything,” mantra. And that’s why I keep coming back here day after day. Because the readers, for the most part, exercise intelligent discretion. And it makes for better comments.

I just wanted to scan down, step in and say that I am not a music insider. I am just a HUGE music fan that is extremely happy that there are forums that exist like this one where I can wax poetic if you will, get feedback, and engage in entertaining conversations. [Learning shit and/or copping new music is just icing on the cake.] Thank you Idolator. And keep up the good work.
I think they do a good job around here, even if there is a LOT too much coverage of crappy teen R&B top 40 throwaway stuff (i.e. neyo, chris brown, etc.).
I’d rather have two pieces of high quality chocolate than a 10 lb bag of Tootsie Rolls. I’d love to see more page hits and comments so Maura can make more money, but if it means the threads turning into BV, I leave.

It’s tempting when writing about music on the web to just go “BLARG THERE IS MORE MUSIC LISTEN,” and Idolator nobly resists this urge every day. Kudos all around.

This is pretty much echoes my thoughts on idolator. Just looking for a short break in my day where I can see what people are talking about/listening to without having to scan through inane comments like those in the linked blog.
