In 2006, they were best buds, but now Barack Obama and Ludacris have a bit of a fraught relationship thanks to the MC’s pro-Obama freestyle, “Politics As Usual,” that showed up on DJ Drama’s latest Gangsta Grillz mix. Apparently verses like “McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed” haven’t really made the Obama campaign all that happy, given that they could be very easily twisted by any right-wing radio hack out there (and probably already have). But in an effort to bridge the gap, the Obama campaign decided to go the “you’re better than this” route in its official statement denouncing the lyrics: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Sen. Clinton, Rev. Jackson, Sen. McCain and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics,” said Obama campaign spokesperson Bill Burton. I hope Kanye West is taking notes for his Obama intro on Sunday night! Lyrics after the jump.
I’m back on it like I just signed my record deal
yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
never should have hated
you never should’ve doubted him
with a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shattered ‘em
Said I handled his biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b^$&%* is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
you can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it’s meant to be
the threats ain’t fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified
McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap
cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents
get out and vote or the end will be near
the world is ready for change because Obama is here!
cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

@Tebowner 4 Ever!: Yeah he also realizes the value of endless free publicity.
Still… reading those gawd awful rhymes made me wince. Dude has no talent and is clinging to the last strand of relevance he has left.
@GhostOfDuane:
WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! Dude may have got a little too “outrageous” with his disses for the folks in Obama’s camp, but there is no need to diss the man’s talent. You have obviously never listened to Back for the First Time, or gotten lifted, knocked back a few and put on Hoes in My Room from Chicken & Beer:
Straight jokes.
“This is not the Ludacris that I knew …”
What do you think the gaffe/outrage to issues ratio is in this election, 5:1?
ludacris is reaching 2003 levels of overexposure at this point. i literally heard four songs in a row on the radio with him as guest rapper, and it’s not like they were “gettin’ the luda out” or something.
apropos of that - why can’t i stop listening to Sean Garrett’s “Grippin’ (feat. Lucacris)”?
Cmon, y’all.. line 5 should read “Obama shouted ‘em”, and the Jesse line should read “how you want it, head or gut?” I expect Huff Post to get the lyrics wrong but Idolator should be on point!
Then again if the press catches on that Luda was metaphorically threatening to shoot the Reverend, we’ll never hear the end of it. So I should stop snitching.
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
you can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
No, they cannot stop Obama, but your dumb ass certainly can, Luda.
Jesus, is Luda not smart enough to realize what a rallying point this can and will be for white repugs everywhere? fucking goddamnit people are stupid. was nothing learned from rev. wright? fuck.
/sorry, but this got me fired up with it’s obvious stupidity
The Bentley Coup just a setup to install a puppet Rolls Royce regime.
@Tebowner 4 Ever!: Just send Luda on some “diplomatic missions:”

that picture totally looks like ludacris ran up and stood next to obama while he was walking down the hall, and had one of his weed-carriers snap a quick pic
