In a recent article on Prince, the part about mending his relationship with Wendy–her being a lesbian and a Jew was not, um, kosher with the Little Jehova’s Witness–made no mention of Lisa whatsoever. Hmm…

@DaeSu: Nope -- Wendy's with another Lisa now, film director Lisa Cholodenko.

@mm: I always loved how W&L were both the absolute perfect foils for and reflections of Prince's sexuality. (Everybody in awesome lace suits! Yay!) And, man, I'm pretty straight, but I've always had a teeny lady-crush on Wendy b/c of the way she smiles when she's playing the guitar so effortlessly. Also, yes: W&L were the first women that I was aware of being really, really active in the production end of pop music, and in that regard they're very (sorry to get sappy) inspirational to me.

i think their being lesbian was always an unspoken understanding
between them and their fans, sort of like marc almoond in the beginning
before he fully came out. the minute the word gay comes into the
equation, that is all critics ever reference. some artists find it
incredibly frustrating.

I didn't know they were lesbians until I read this. Not that I'd ever put much thought into it, even though I was (and remain) a massive Prince fan and particularly think that the Revolution was his strongest band.

I do have all of Wendy and Lisa's post-Prince albums because they are awesome. Now I just think they're even more awesome. If I knew any lesbians in person I'd be a dyke mike, and for the same reason as you.
