During a discussion of Pineapple Express: “How many times did they play the M.I.A. song?” The answer, alas, was zero, but that hasn’t stopped the song from being the No. 2 track on the iTunes Store as of this writing. [iTunes]

Seeing this song at number four on the charts this weekend put a huge smile on my face. Will she hit #1? Tune in daily to find out. I want to optimistic, but that Jonas Bros. track could be the I Kissed a Girl to her Take a Bow. Just saying.
@Tauwan: I admit, you made me confused for a second. “Jill Sobule kept Madonna from hitting #1?” What’s weird is that I checked and yep, those songs were both hits the same year, 1995.
@rajmahall:
God, I’ve been watching A League of Their Own since 1995! Wow.
::sigh:: This is going to provoke so many “UGH, I knew that song, like…a year ago” comments.
I guess my bigger concern is witnessing my father dancing to M.I.A. at some relative’s wedding.
You don’t need “Paper Planes” in the movie when you have Huey Lewis’ “Pineapple Express”.
@ITMS: For real. I hate it when “normal” dweebs (you know, the squares that don’t read music blogs) start listening to good music. And how embarrassing will it be if old people start listening to it too, and maybe even dancing? Stick to Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers, old dudes!
