ARTIST: Pink
TITLE “So What”
WEB DEBUT: Aug. 7, 2008
ONE-LISTEN VERDICT: An opening lyric about her departed ex-husband, a declaration that she’s ready for a scrap, a “nyah nyah” cadence on the verses, and a chorus that… sounds like Nickelback’s “Rock Star”? The newest Max Martin-assisted single by Pink is certainly a mixed bag, with the blunt-object lyrics of her last album’s lead-off single, “Stupid Girls,” combining with the bludgeon-you-’til-you’re-dead “Rock & Roll Part 2″ stomp that made Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” catnip for radio programmers. Whether or not these same programmers will be ready for another song that beats its listeners over the head until they’re dazed enough to sing along is up in the air–especially since this song doesn’t have the relative wit of “U & Ur Hand.”
WHERE TO HEAR IT: Music Mind Of Tristan Spears has a copy, and there’s this YouTube clip:

@metalkate:
Amen to that. When Pink isn’t trying to get a hit or replacing the “i” in her name with an exclamation point, she’s a pretty awesome pop star.
Emphasis on the “pop star”. No matter what this chorus says, Pink is not a “rock star”.
“doesn’t have the relative wit of “U & Ur Hand.” Um, wow. You could have said “lacks even single interesting lyric,” but I guess I got the message from the above.
I’ll probably love this song in about 2 days, but right now it’s pretty much the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.
musical dirty laundry airing is never flattering.
i kind of like pink, but this song pretty much sucks.
