Lily Allen Breaks Out The Full Box Of “Colorful Language” Crayons

The lyrics to Lily Allen’s “Fuck You Very Much”–which verbally flip off someone who wants to be like his father while also being racist, homophobic, generally closed-minded, and also an idiot–make me wonder if this track isn’t her attempt at writing a “statement” song that could easily be segued out of Jarvis Cocker’s just-as-salty anti-authority polemic “Running The World.” “Fuck You” is irresistibly catchy, and I look forward to it shooting to No. 1 on the ringtone charts as thousands of jilted lovers snag its chorus for purposes of signaling a call from their exes. I missed it at the time, but Lily posted this, or part of it, to her MySpace page a few weeks back. She calls the tune “guess who batman?”:

its just an idea , called “guess who batman ? ” . my label wont let me put whole songs up till next week . .anyway heres one idea . i did the edit myself on garage band so sorry for the abrupt ending . this song is not a direct attack at anyone , it was origianally written about the BNP in the uk but then i felt this issue has become relevant pretty much everywhere , we are the youth , we can make coolness for our future , its up to us . go green and hate hate .

  2. It’s nothing less than the subtlest evisceration of ethnic hate since They Might Be Giants’ “You And Your Racist Friend.”

@Audif Jackson Winters III: I think this edges out the Giants, if for no other reason that they use the word “Racist” in the title.

I’m amazed I made it through that. Around 2:19, all that ken burns zooming helped me realize that she really reminds me of a lizard… a lizard whose voice will be bouncing around my skull for days.
