Lenny Kravitz Will Not Be Going Velvet Revolver’s Way

AP080727011019.jpgThe truth quotient of the rumor that Lenny Kravitz would be replacing Weiland as the lead singer of Velvet Revolver has plummeted from 38% to zero, if Kravitz’s just-issued statement to Rolling Stone is to be believed. “I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band,” he told the magazine. Looks like bloggers everywhere will have this story to kick around for a little longer! But where will it go next?

Now Kravitz has joined the long list of people who aren’t singing for Velvet Revolver–a star-studded roster of names that includes an ex-MTV VJ who now blogs, a guy from who’s married to a Playmate, an ex-Gilmore Girls cast member, and any of the contestants from the CBS game show Jingles–which lead singer should be the next piece of grist for the ever-churning rumor mill? Clearly, this needs to be solved by the always scientific method of Internet polling:

    Meanwhile, Extreme’s Gary Cherone sits alone in the breakroom of a 7-11, staring at a phone that will never, ever ring.

    @Maura Johnston: Wow. So what you’re telling me is, it’s worse than I even imagined…

    I’m not really comforted by this. If Kravitz had joined VR then one act of God would have been enough to rid us… Although I think I’d want Slash to live.

    @Maura Johnston:

    The best quote of the day: ‘Gary Cherone adds, “I like how it expresses that longing we’ve been feeling to play for our fans and be together again.”‘

    I like how it makes me want to preemptively fill my ear holes with molten lead.

    Vote Courtney Love! If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1000 times. The answer to every question is Courtney Love.

    Would I be alone in my level of curiousity to hear Ian Astbury sing with VR?

    Would it sound apprecibly different than The Cult does now?

    I think Astbury’s still busy with that Doors act he does in Vegas. Which leaves only one obvious choice: Max Splodge.
