ARTIST: Oasis
TITLE: “Falling Down”
WEB DEBUT: Aug. 13, 2008
ONE-LISTEN VERDICT: There are many things about the first single from Oasis’ forthcoming Dig Out Your Soul that sound a bit familiar; the Tears For Fears-ish chorus, the beats that really do sound like they were quite serious about the whole “hypnotic grooves” thing, the overall rainy-day-in-the-’90s feel. Yet most of them (save the big dramatic crescendo at the end) don’t sound familiarly Oasis, which should prove to elicit quite the interesting reaction from the fanbase–apparently there are YouTube comments accusing Oasis of stealing inspiration for the song from freaking Kasabian. I quite like it, though. Hooray for pleasant surprises!

Not bad. Has me wondering what the rest of the album’s like.
Cheerio, Gub’na!
I can’t find anything to hate on about this song. You win this round, Gallaghers!
I had the same reaction: “Wow, I don’t hate this.” Chorus could be better, though.
You can really hear Gem Archer stretching out here.
There’s a Chemical Brothers remix of this floating around that I love…even in 2008.
Possibly their best song since “Gas Panic!” (yes I know they have alot of good songs in their “post-Be Here Now era of not being as good”, but “Gas Panic!” towers high over everything the band has released since “Don’t Go Away”).
