Avril Lavigne’s Aug. 29 performance in Kuala Lumpur has been postponed because of her act’s overwhelming “sexiness,” which would apparently have proven overly traumatic to Malaysia’s Aug. 31 celebration of its Independence Day. [NYT]

I’ve never met anyone from Kuala Lumpur, specifically never a woman, but I’m guessing their standards for sexy aren’t really that questionable.
Avril Lavigne and sexy doesn’t belong in the same universe…
I was just watching Avril in a Kohl’s commercial last night (because where else would you see her these days), and it struck me that the punkest thing about her is her stubborn refusal to give a fuck about any of her “music.” Or at least appear to give a fuck. She’s all, “Yeah, this song is lame and I’m not even doing anything approaching ‘performing.’ So what? Fuck you, old guy, with your ideas about music and entertainment.” In a way, that is so fucking punk.
@sydbarrett05: So true. The sexiest thing about Avril Lavigne’s lame OPENING set at a recent concert I attended…was her handsome as hell bass player. Otherwise, flat, flat, flat.
