It's time for another Smiths best-of comp; this time, it's a double-disc set that will be put out by Rhino Records. Let's put aside the "Paint A Vulgar Picture" jokes for a second and focus on the name of the compilation: Hang The DJ: The Very Best Of The Smiths. Is there no one left at Rhino who remembers the label's own series of modern-rock stalwarts with the same name? Or who's at least on-the-ball enough to try and come up with a name that matches the band's lyrical wit? [Billboard]

I love the hell out of the band, but tell me why anyone should buy this instead of The Singles?
A savvy used CD shopper could likely pick up all four proper Smiths albums plus Louder Than Bombs (thus owning all but five or six of the songs they put out, EVER) for only a few dollars more than what this compilation is going to cost.
Holding out for the remastered albums in a nice box set appended with a decent live set (not 'Rank'). Thanks.
Seriously, can we just have a complete Smiths box set and be done with it? That's really the only Smiths related product I'd have any interest in buying at this moment.
(Sidenote: I'd love to see a chart on bands with the highest compilation to actual album ratio. The Smiths, Sublime, umm...who else?)
@Captain Wrong: Yep, there's an article begging to be written here. The Jam, the Stone Roses... reckon the Sex Pistols would top the chart though.
