My wife and I were discussing this one last night. At first I got this confused with Big & Rich and thought it was really crazy to use that after Rich’s “Raising McCain.” After my wife reminded me the two groups are different, we both agreed this was a smart, if slightly cynical choice, for Obama. The fact that Bush used it too is a nice poke in the eye.

I’m a lifelong Democrat, but I have to say the red-staters have us beat for niceness. Anytime a left-wing rock star has had his song appropriated by a Republican, said rocker demands the song get pulled so fast it makes one’s head spin.
Not that Bruce wasn’t in the right back in ’84, mind you…
I have to imagine B&D looking at each other and conceding, “Well played, then.” I also imagine them smiling at the way that song is going to shoot up the iTunes charts this week.
As of the above date and timestamp, “Only in America” is the No. 40 iTunes country download; it isn’t in the overall Top 100. I bet that changes over the weekend.
