The Soulwax Movie Could Mash Itself Up Into An Oddly Compelling Flick

I’m a sucker for music documentaries, even those about acts I don’t follow all that much. When those documentaries are produced by Partizan Films–home of Michel Gondry–I’m placing an Amazon preorder for the DVD before I finish reading the first paragraph of the film’s description. Still, I’m not sure what to make of The Weekend Never Ends, a full-length “life on the road” look at Soulwax and their related act, 2ManyDJs. I enjoyed the Radio Soulwax bootlegs quite a bit, but that was back in 2001, and I walked away from a Coachella DJ set of theirs a few years ago out of boredom. The teaser makes the film seem somewhat compelling; I just hope it doesn’t wind up being like the incredibly dull Air tour film from a few years ago, only with more bass. [Partizan]

The Weekend Never Ends? That’s definitely not the title, sorry guys.

I saw “Part Of The Weekend Never Dies” prior to Soulwax’s latest gig in NYC, as they were promoting the film with their live show. It’s quite entertaining, lots of interviews w/ electronic artists we all know and love and some awesome editing and funny clips. Definitely check it out and check Soulwax out live, they are indeed amazing.

The intro of the film is kinda cracked out, Schoolhouse Rock on crack.

The DVD also features commentary from Tiga in the extras menu, which makes for an entertaining second look at a raelly not dull documentary.

@madmangoliath: My mistake. For some reason, I rewrote this post eight or nine times, and screwed up the title for this take.
