Another follow-up to the kerfuffle over Robin Thicke maybe being too white for the cover of Vibe: Perhaps dude was just, uh, too much of a dude? Because I just got a press release touting the fact that the next issue’s cover features a “tasteful” nude shot of Ciara. Said release uses the phrases “bares her body and soul” and “revealing, never-before-seen photos” in its first paragraph, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, makes a “Goodies” pun in its headline. Anyone have Soundscan handy and can tell us how much the sophomore Ciara album ended up selling? I’ll bet Evolution of Robin Thicke beats it.
Not that that would help him with his dude problem.
@Chris Molanphy: Don’t forget, Ciara’s last album was called The Evolution too! Wiki sez hers sold 1.2 as of July ‘07, but who knows if that’s true. Either way, Thicke’s last album probably sold more, but Ciara has 2 big albums and way more radio hits, so her profile’s much higher overall. The weird part is that his album is out this month and the first single’s climbing the charts, but hers is due in December and the lead single’s been leaked once and then changed to another as-yet-unreleased song, so she’s just barely ramping up promo for her album.
