PORTLAND, Ore. – The Rockets lost their poise, their lead and their point guard. They could not bear to lose the game too. Ages ago (pre-Internet), I wrote Bridget. She actually wrote me back and told me Unrest broke up. Kind of bummed me out, but it was still cool she wrote.

@gregor: check the Maybe It’s Reno album. Five tracks are an Unrest reunion in all but name. Other than that, I really don’t know what Mark has been up to.

I’d wondered what happened between her unfortunate incarceration and the new record (which is wonderful), so it was good to hear that Alaska has been treating her nicely since – the pictures don’t lie!

@gregor: I second the Flin Flon recommendation, and if you have any inclination to pick up Dave Shrigley’s Worried Noodles compilation, Mark & Evelyn (Hurley, late of Blast Off Country Style, and the real life Mrs. Robinson) appear under the moniker Cotton Candy, who also have a forthcoming release on Teenbeat this winter. Good times ahead!

i was just thinking about bridget cross the other day. what with the sarah palin thing, and related talk about the prevalence of racism in alaska, it made me think of that unfortunate incident with her then-boyfriend a few years ago…

love love LOVE flin flon. mark r also has like 4? solo albums (which i have to admit i haven’t checked out).

for my money, the best newish releases on teenbeat are BOTH of the two hollAnd albums that they released last year – holy cow!!!

need to revisit the maybe it’s reno album. really liked it on first couple of listens but got pulled away by other stuff and haven’t checked it out in a while. her voice is still so gorgeous.

oh yeah, those hollAnd albums are fantastic.

i love the maybe it’s reno record. in fact, it seems like it would be perfect for a rainy day like today…

bridget cross is cool and all, but more importantly, what the hell as mark robinson been up to? i am sure a quick google search would answer that question though.

Just don’t try to convince me Air Miami was anything but a disappointment. I’m still smarting.

Although, in retrospect, I was kinda hard on it. It’s probably better than half of the stuff out there now!

  10. I too was misinformed about the tea party movement until I joined a great site that made me understand it better. I met alot of people there and must say I was impressed with the way they think. I thought they were all insane people then I found out why they are the tea party movement. It was because they care about the United States and the constitution.
