The clip for the Bjork/Antony Hegarty duet “The Dull Flame Of Desire” was helmed by three different directors, each of whom placed as runners-up in one of those “help me make my video” contests that have been all the rage in the YouTube era. Each of the directors gets two minutes of the song to make their own, but what’s interesting to me is the common thread of two people becoming one through the power of lust; the parallels between the first and final segments are particularly striking, with the opening two minutes depicting Bjork and Antony as being borne from a single cluster of stars and the final two minutes morphing the two singers’ faces in and out of each other until the final shot, which fuses the pair together in a stunning way.
