A tipster who was at last night’s Cult show in Los Angeles writes in with the latest example of Ian Astbury fanning the “dude, we are so opening for Led Zeppelin next summer” flames: “at last night’s show at the Wiltern in L.A., the singer, between songs, sang ‘it’s been a long time since I rock and rolled,’ and then said ‘see you this summer.’” A bit less dorky than the “guess whose band name starts with the letters L and Z” game that he played in Cincinnati, but still, dude is just cruising for a bruising from Robert Plant.

I think it is genius. I am calling a benevolent conspiracy here.
Allows Led Zep to deny it and keep the pre O2 mystique while prepping people for the idea of a summer tour.
If Astbury really fucked up with the L and Z thing in Ohio then after that hit the internet not only would he have been told to shut up, Led Zep would threaten to kick them off the tour if he did it again.
Twice now, and with it hitting the internet both times, I imagine this is fully approved.
