I’ll share here my theory that the snag is News Corp.’s inability to lock up a deal with EMI. They don’t want to launch the venture without music from all the majors. “Sources say” a deal is near, but there seem to be some last-minute sticking points.

Re: Maura, maybe we should come up with futures based on various music-industry happenings. Then we could short MySpace Music actually launching, market-that-fucked-Lehman-Brothers-style.
My guess is end of October, and the CEO they hire will be the guy who helps them close EMI.
