Robert Plant Does Not Have A Whole Lotta Love For Whoever’s Fueling These Led Zep Reunion Rumors

Robert Plant has taken to his personal Web site to denounce rumors that he’s getting back together with the other guys in his old band, Led Zeppelin, for any reason other than a nice meal or a night of drinking: “Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin,” the statement, er, states. Not only that, once Plant’s done with this Alison Krauss tour, he’s taking the next two years off from doing anything music-related! Which I guess means that the “no, really, this time Led Zep is definitely getting back together for real” speculation will begin anew come October 2010. Plant’s full statement after the jump.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their ‘Raising Sand’ tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin,Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5th.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to
rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said.

“I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects,” he added.

I’m sure Jason Bonham is keen to get on with whatever it is he’s getting on with instead of swimming in cash…

Just saw Plant and Krauss at that OKC benefit. I honestly doubt that Plant is terribly financially motivated these days, but considering how great “Battle of Evermore” was, he’s certainly stoking the Zeppo reunion market.

Wait, so the Foo Fighters hiatus wasn’t timed to allow Dave Grohl to tour with Zep?
