The unabashedly poptimist blog Don’tStopThePop introduced me to the Swedish twosome Friday Bridge in its latest “international pop acts that I love” update, and I was pretty much won over by the lighter-than-air synthpop showcased on its MySpace page right away. “It Girl” sounds as if someone added fizzy lifting drinks to Kylie Minogue’s “Love At First Sight”–which makes sense, since the duo lists its influences as Edward Elgar and the Minogue sisters–while the obligatory Cover Of A Song From The 1980s, Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without A Face,” strips Idol’s sneering bombast from the track and sprinkles delicate, calliope-like keyboards and a breathy vocal into the void.
