It been a little difficult for me to get energized today, considering I spent most of my post-debate evening huddled into a corner shivering in terror, but there’s not much in life worth getting more excited over than the music of German power metal act Edguy, which has a new album coming out in November. I visualize Edguy as power metal’s version of the Hives–they may be taking themselves incredibly seriously, but the outlandishness of their image makes them utterly entertaining.
Listen in as the band describes their new album Tinnitus Sanctus:
The title just refers to the wall of sound that will bulldoze you. Let’s be modest: We have ten extraordinary songs and this new album is gonna be our ticket to the hall of fame alongside with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and AC/DC. There won’t be a hit-single this time, not even a flop-single, haha; not only because most songs are too long for a single, but also because for a single we had to produce way more stuff, lose money and need a time frame to release it. The album would come later then and that would suck….It’s a new album and we’ve set off to new horizons once more! The stuff sounds really broad, very anthemic, heavy and ballsy.
While I’m excited for Edguy’s hall of fame caliber album, I’m a little disappointed that there won’t be a single, especially considering the craft the band puts into their videos. Such is life. I shouldn’t demand too much from my power metal acts.
Enjoy these classic videos from the Edguy vault.

Good to see those outside the metal community noticing Edguy. They aren’t great in the classical sense, but they are fun as hell.
They were probably one licensed song away from being Dragonforce.
