Jermaine Jackson told reporters in Sydney that the Jackson 5 will be reuniting next year. “It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family.” Given recent tales of the siblings’ travails, from working odd jobs to troubled world tours, this might be a good thing for all concerned, including Michael, about whom no mere link can suffice to explain. Frankly, we’d like this to include every member of the family, not least because we want to hear the song embedded above, as well as this one, which isn’t embeddable. Not to mention that Epic/Legacy’s new reissues of the Jacksons’ Destiny (1978) and Triumph (1980) remind us yet again that Michael’s brothers helped him make some of his finest music.
