A Special Halloween Presentation: Idolator’s (Sorta) Guide To Horrorcore

  • Lucas Jensen

This is amazing, Jess. Also, I consider ICP the worst band of all time, hands down.

  • AquaLung

Like you said, this pretty much began and ended with Gravediggaz, and rightly so because most of this stuff is beyond awful.

Although I'm pretty sure Russell Simmons was one of Horrorcore's biggest champions at its outset.

Good thing he stepped back from that one eventually.

  • Ned Raggett

This is truly the best Halloween ever.

  • doublewhiskycokenoice

@AquaLung: I WISH YOU WOULD STEP BACK FROM THAT LEDGE, my friend...

  • TheRunningboard7

no shoutouts to half of lupe fiasco's the cool? maybe all my images didn't load. work connection speed makes me sad.

  • Lucas Jensen

I don't think anybody heard me. I said Insane Clown Posse is the worst band of all time. Bring it on, Juggalos!

  • Jerkwheat

@Lucas Jensen: I would like to second and third this notion. We moved to MI before my senior year in '97 and my rural HS was full of white trash loving them some ICP.

    Fuck you, Faygo.

  • octobersky is electric barbare

    @Lucas Jensen: Agreed.
When I worked at a music store we had to label the cd bins and a co-worker and I labeled them "INANE Clown Posse." It was months before someone caught our spelling "mistake."

  • Anonymous

haha... horrorcore's unfortunately alive and well in portland: [www.myspace.com]

  • sistasoulja

    is that a cowlick?

  • Lucas Jensen

@doublewhiskycokenoice: Third Eye Blind in the comments for a Horrorcore comic post! Pomo!

  • thatssoraven

    Complete, my ass!

Where's the Geto Boys "Mind of a Lunatic" - the BEST SONG IN THE GENRE?!

  • Christopher R. Weingarten

    :O

  • westartedthis

one halloween (14, 15 - too old to be trick or treating, for sure) we beat up some dudes who were dressed like ICP (and on rollerblades, no less) and took their candy.

hey, i'm not saying i was a good person. i'm just saying in this particular case, they probably deserved it.

  • noz

    (1992)

I think Esham was doing this type of shit prior to '93 as well.

  • noz

whoops - i meant to post this

    (1992)

this probably deserves mention as well

  • Lucas Jensen

@westartedthis: Even though this is horrible, I laughed at it.

Like I said before, Insane Clown Posse is the worst musical act of all time.

  • Christopher R. Weingarten

third verse in Pharcyde's "4 Better or 4 Worse"... from my spoooooooooky second log-in

  • AL

The alt-weekly here in Columbus just had an article on Juggalos last week! [www.theotherpaper.com]

And seriously, since I moved here 2 months ago, I have seen actual Juggalos -- in full face-paint, just hanging out -- on multiple occasions.

  • Lax Danja House

This was probably the best thing ever.

    But Esham fucking sucks.

  • David R.

Shout-outs to Visitor Q AND Little Nemo! Tho if Jess was REALLY with it, he'd throw some "love" August Underground's way.

Actually, ICP biters are probably quoting that shit chapter & verse, so never mind.

  • davidm

    What about Necro?

  • LeBron

I only got put on to Gravediggaz about a year ago, but I like that first CD; it's good running music. In fact, that's what horrorcore is best for -- working out, so you can use it constructively and not feel like a total scumbag for listening to stuff like Necro.

Here's my favorite guilty pleasure, good if you enjoy the movie Carrie. (I do)

  • brandonsoderberg

    THIS IS GREAT!

  • Christopher R. Weingarten
