Alan McGee Quits Music Via Facebook Status Message

The former Creation Records head and ex-Libertines manager on how he announced that he was exiting the music business after 25 years because as someone who actually enjoyed music, he felt kind of like a dinosaur: “It was on my Facebook…. My status said: ‘Glad I’m not a manager any more, I really recommend it.’ ” A better way to have done it would have been to add “There Must Be A Better Life” to his iLike queue, but maybe he didn’t want to get too high-concept.
