Not being all that familiar with the Twilight series, I’m not sure what, exactly, is going on in the video for “Decode,” which is taken from the tie-in movie’s soundtrack, nor why this clip was powerful enough to render one YouTube commenter “*speachless*.” The song’s pretty OK, though–it’s a little bit darker than the band’s other material, perhaps so it can fit in with the whole vampire love story angle proffered by its matching material. But even if you’ve never read nor never want to read any of Stephenie Meyer’s works, “Decode” is particularly satisfying listening for a crisp autumn day. (Which may explain the gray palette and the forest setting.) (Although I guess you could argue that all of that is just more goth tropes at work. Anyway!) [MTV]

In an alternate universe where the Twilight soundtrack is cool, not pathetic:

The only song I’d listen to on Twilight’s soundtrack is “Full Moon” by The Black Ghosts, but that’s only because they just own everything in general.
No, honestly, this Paramore song is OK…I started warming up to them, understanding this is the RIGHT DIRECTION for the pop/rock genre…but WTF does The Black Ghosts have to do with “Twilight”?
@Jandira: As a vampire myself, I thought the two Twilight books I read went down relatively easy but are poor representations of the culture. I’ll see the movie, but mostly out of irony.
I agree with you though, the song’s lyrics fit the book.
My 13-year-old cousin is obsessed with these books, but it’s set in the town of Forks, Washington, where it’s rainy and cloudy all the time, so the vampires that live in town can attend high school during the day (since apparently that’s appealing if you’re an immortal demon). I suppose there are a lot of forests around the town. The vampires will ~sparkle~ if they go out in the sunshine (instead of burning up, like every other story about vampires ever).
Cedric Diggory up there is a vampire who falls in love the Bella, and it is quite melodramatic and angsty because he could kill her and she’s a whiny teenager. It is the greatest love story you’d never want to read. And there are good vampires and bad vampires, and about 90% of the book has no plot, so the movie might be an improvement.
I’m sure Twilight could yield plenty of material for Idolator’s Objects of Affection.

Someone used one of my guitar teacher’s songs to make a tribute video.
This video is giving me serious “Feed The Tree” flashbacks:

I’m not real crazy about “Decode,” and was curious about Paramore’s other song on the soundtrack, but it’s been impossible to find on YouTube because the fans of some unknown and vaguely similar-sounding band w/ female vocals called Renfue have flooded the internet with a song by that band mislabelled as Paramore’s “I Caught Myself.”
Do your homework before you write an article. It’s obvious what the video is about if you understand what the purpose of a “Soundtrack” is.
The song “Decode” is the theme for this movie (Twilight) and is about the confusion and doomed-from-the-beginning romance between Bella & Edward. Decoding each other is what they are doing throughout the entire Twilight book (movie). Bella wants to understand the mystery of Edward because she knows there is something more than meets the eye. Edward wants to decode Bella because her mind is the only one that he can’t read.
Ugh. You writers are horrible. Paramore did a fantastic job writing this song for the movie’s theme. Great video :)
@Jandira: Thanks, obsesso fangirl! :)
@Maura Johnston: Awww, but it’s so cute!!! And it allows me to relay my recent experience:
My favorite thing was going to a Tokio Hotel concert last week (haha, I know! my sister loves them though) and chatting with the fangirls in line.
I mentioned my lurve for the Jonas Brothers and damned if I didn’t feel like an Obama-supporter at a Palin rally.
What I learned: TH fangirls love Tokio Hotel (duh!), also Paramore, PATD, Katy Perry. They also love Twilight.
Know what they hate though? The Jonas Brothers. Why? Because it’s POP music. “We hate POP. Ew!” they said. Hehe. Katy Perry.
(Show was actually kind of fun though - the Phillies won!).
@LeBron: !!!!!!!!!!!!
