Fuse Still Not Afraid To Let The World Know That It’s A Music Channel

Fuse, the little music-video channel that’s taken quite a few (sometimes misguided) steps toward banking on music-related programming over the past year, has snatched the next three years’ worth of television rights to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony from VH1 Classic.

While last year’s ceremony, including Tom Hanks’ enthusiastic, yet odd celebration of the Dave Clark Five, wasn’t exactly gripping television, there’s something to be said for one of music’s most-covered nights out of the depths of the digital-cable dial and onto a channel that actually broadcasts in HD. On the other hand, Fuse’s audience might not match up quite as well with the fanbase of the grandpa-rock acts that are inducted each year–sure, the channel’s still-remaining emo-leaning fanbase might like some older artists, but no amount of channel changing is going to get the Smiths in that weird-looking building this time around. No Morrissey, no justice, people. Seriously.
