Alphabeat Conjure A Spell… By Turning People Into Letters

Have the Passion Pits of the world stolen our hearts away from wonky popsters? Alphabeat’s clever video for “What Is Happening”–complete with people organized in a manner in which to spell out words from the chorus–could re-energize our collective enthusiasm for the boisterous Danes, but I worry that the band might be the victim of bad timing, at least as far as the Coachella-governed cycle of hype goes: They’re too late for 2008, but too early to be a truly exciting possibility for the festival’s 2009 roster of non-reuniting bands. I’ll still love you, Alphabeat; you gave us “Fascination” and I can’t forget that fact. At least, not for another six months or so. [YouTube]
