The first big festival announcement for the 2009 season has come down now that Stagecoach–the country counterpart to Coachella, which next year will take place April 25-26 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif.–has released its first slew of performers: Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, the last-name-less “Reba,” and Kid Rock will headline, and for what I’m pretty sure is the first time ever, Darius “Hootie” Rucker and the Reverend Horton Heat will share a bill. And Poco is playing, too! Yes, really! Full lineup via the show’s official poster after the jump.

Do you think the Stagecoach organizers contracted Brad Paisley to get that whole “larger than life” effect going?

They had me at Poco, even though Kid Rock is going to pwn the ‘headliners’ above him. It would be brilliant if he showed up with Rev Run and they did their Run DMC set. Ah, if only…
I have to say, $99 for a “Kenny Chesney and a lot of other acts” show is going to be seen as a really good deal.
Not a bad bill at all.
If my eyes aren’t deceiving me, it looks like only Chesney & Paisley are getting “Tier 1″ billing (also, their pix are on the poster!). “Reba” and Kid Rock get “Tier 2″ billing, one-or-maybe-two-point-size-smaller type. And I’m pleased as punch to see Miranda Lambert in “Tier 3″.
Maybe Reba McEntire (sp?) won’t be singing, but rather, she and her former castmates will be acting out an episode of the “Reba” tv show on the stage.
One upside of Stagecoach over Coachella: Fewer bloggers.
