The reason the Motion City Soundtrack director yelled "Texas A&M" is because she's a student there, and she won a contest to direct the video ("It Had to Be You").

I was there and it was actually quite a good event. All the performances were solid besides All Time Low (UGH...) and I met A-Trak and Dave from Chromeo (The Macklovitch brothers). Very cool dudes...Mikey Rocks from The Cool Kids came through the crowd to get through, talked to him for a sec. This event was definitely better than any awards show I've seen. Good music, good DJing, a Rickrolling and overall, people were friendly and security weren't dicks whatsoever about talking to the artists. It was great...and Lykke Li was absolutely fucking cool.

Oh, and There for Tomorrow was a band who won the voting for this summer's "Freshman Five", beating out better bands like Los Campesinos! and Crystal Castles. Which boggles the mind because those two bands are actually - y'know, good - and the voters picked a non-descript pop/punk band over them.

Wait, so should I feel stupid for liking MTVu or smart because I like MTVu, mostly because they still play videos, and not just any videos, but by artists I actually listen to (TV on the Radio, Los Campesinos!).

I've yet to distinguish the difference between All Time Low and We the Kings. They're essentially the same band to me, much like Breaking Benjiamin and Three Days Grace blend together to me.

However, every time I hear the name "All Time Low", I think of the wildly obscure late 70's proto-alt rock band 2.3 (a band from Sheffield, England only famous because their lead singer paid for the first Human League single) who released one great single - "All Time Low" b/w "Where to Now?" - and then disappeared into the ether by 1979.

I also liked how people just stopped following the teleprompter all together towards the end.
