I'm still kind of disappointed that they didn't show the Liam Gallagher interview (which you can see as part of

">this clip), but it was a nice recap of the TRL pop era (although I will always associate it with mashups, which felt like a missing piece, but which MTV legally couldn't include). Overall, I must say it was a pretty enjoyable couple hours of "Carson Daly practices for New Year's after a long time away from live TV."

@LeBron: note that this is supposed to be a countdown for videos, not songs. So Dirrty makes perfect sense. It was actually a kickass (and ridiculous, over-the-top, trying too hard to "shock") video.

and I got "I want it that way" AND "the real slim shady" correct! Britney has to be number one...just has to be.
