While the news hasn’t been great for Sirius XM lately, at least the bigwigs at the newly merged satellite-radio company can feel somewhat consoled by the fact that things suck for terrestrial radio, too. Jim Boyle, who watches the industry for CL King & Associates, reports that “”October was the 18th consecutive negative year-over-year revenue month and 2008 is the eighth straight struggling year” and that radio hasn’t seen these sort of troubling times since 1954. In what cannot be a coincidence, both Ryan Seacrest and Bubba the Love Sponge expanded their syndicated shows to new markets this week. [FMQB]

Oh God, Bubba the Love Sponge. That guy started out on my local radio station in Florida. I hadn’t thought about him in years. I had kinda hoped he’d been hit by a cattle train or something.

Nah Bubbah is back in Tampa and already airing in Jacksonville. I have to admit though he’s light years better than MJ here on 93.3 and I used to hate Bubba with a vengeance.
