Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, while I’m sure they are delightful people who anyone would be lucky to get to know, were two of my least welcome music-related developments this year. Bareilles’ “Love Song” irritated to me to no end, and it haunted me around every adult contemporary corner. Michaelson’s music is just too deliberately cute for my tastes and a tip towards a general Greysanatomizing of music that is sure to drive me mad if it goes on for too long (although at this pace, it might go belly-up soon enough, so there’s something). However, I couldn’t turn away from the collaboration between my two mortal enemies of Lilith-styled pop while watching VH1′s morning block of videos. The video is cloying, definitely, but the song was oddly transfixing and sweet. I try to avoid nearly all Christmas music this time of year, but I actually wanted to hear this song again. What has happened to me? [MTV Music]

When “Love Song” first came out, I thought it was a product of my mortal enemy Amanda Marshall, a Canadian songstress responsible for this awful song:
Have you Americans been subjected to her? I just wanted to ask.
I briefly liked her song Birmingham, back when I was a ninth-grader who cried when his parents wouldn’t let him go to the Lilith Fair (which, in their defense, was like four hours away and expensive.) But even then I realized her album was incredibly crappy.
This is a pretty song.
Ingrid Michaelson… I heard her on a morning radio show before the iPod commercial came out, and she sang a song about a Snow Man she made up when she was playing for children that was the cutest and saddest Christmas song ever.
i heard a pre-’love song’ sara bareilles album and it wasn’t bad. definitely not as polished.
I heard this song in IKEA the other day. Seems appropriate.
