Quad City DJs’ Christmas Lights Got Their Light Bill High

I have a real love/hate relationship with Christmas music. On the one hand, I feel like the genre is forced upon me a bit prematurely, and if I never hear the synth sounds of Manheim Steamroller again that would be just fine. On the other hand, each year usually brings a few truly enjoyable songs. Since I subjected you all to a Sara Bareilles/Ingrid Michaelson track last week, I felt like I should balance things out with “12 Ghetto Days Of Christmas (What You Want For Christmas?)” by the Quad City DJs and the 69 Boyz. I enjoy Miami bass pretty much all the time, but there are a few absolutely delightful moments in this song, including the idea of Alize egg nog and Christmas wishes for “nine Sega tapes” and “a few bus passes.” [YouTube]
