Prince has launched LotusFlow3r.com, an “entirely new galaxy” that, it looks like, will be the launching pad for all things Purple in 2009 (the Flash animation promises new tracks by Prince “and special guests” as well as video and an online store; there’s also a screen grab from Purple Rain in the page). Three songs—his dreamy reworking of “Crimson and Clover,” the confident strut “There Will Never B Another 1 Like Me,” and the quietly stormy “Here Eye Come,” which I’m pretty sure features Bria Valente—are streaming from the site as well, and man I could listen to that guitar on “Crimson” all day. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in THAT pitch meeting.
As long as Prince insists music stopped evolving in 1993, I’m not really interested.
Wow. That is so graphically intense and nicely done and yet somehow indescribably awful visually. It’s like a bad 70’s futuristic blaxploitation porn movie cover.
