The first single from Fever Ray, the solo project of the Knife’s Karin Dreijer, has some overt Pete Seeger references, but the video is all gloom and ghosts and death and insects and candle-flickers. The slow dribble of the organ line and Dreijer’s pitch-shifted vocals provide a fitting backdrop to the vidoe’s plot (as it were), where two wide-eyed children glimpse the quiet chaos around them until they float away in silence, presumably to a place that’s at least a little bit brighter. I’m excited for the Fever Ray album- the Charles Burns-inspired cover art especially makes me want to get my hands on a physical copy and soon.
I rather like it. I want a whole movie that’s nothing more than that imagery.
