While I’m waiting to see if there’s some iTunes/iPod-related news coming up in the MacWorld keynote address, one update from the Garageband front…they’ve added music lessons. So, while Maura tries to find a way to put the Patrick Stump segments on a loop, you can learn how to play to real instruments via lessons John Fogerty, Colbie Caillat, Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones or the guy from OneRepublic. If they add accordion lessons from Jimmy Sturr, I’m in. [Macworld]

    Does the new Garage Band also contain singing lessons from Milli Vanilli?

    I’m a bit confused by the pick of Sting for guitar. I mean, sure he’s mega high profile, but he’s not exactly known for his guitar chops now is he?

    @revmatty: Sting’s good, but he’s no Colbie Caillat. Good to hear she finally learned to play that oversized necklace of hers.

    @K-Rex: I have actually never heard of her until just now, and after youtubing some live songs, I can see that you’re being funny. Right?

    @MayhemintheHood: I just looked. K-Rex is right…

    @janine: I guess she’d be alright at teaching guitar if you only wanted to learn to play with a capo, have no finger work and just move a chord up and down the fret board(although I think her first lesson would be to get an experienced player to play in the background and take over when the complicated parts came up).

    First K-Rex confused me, now I can’t tell if you’re being facetious too.

    @MayhemintheHood: I thought it was facetiousness all around.

    @janine: Ah. I honestly thought so, but I’ve been kinda off today.

    On that note, Colbie Caillat shreds on guitar. She makes Kaki King look like an amateur.

    Guitar chops were never needed to write a hit.
