So Idolator is up for Best Music Blog in the 2008 Weblog Awards, which are not to be confused with the Bloggies, or for that matter with the AVN Adult Movie Awards. Since I’m trying to be more “assertive” in 2009 I’m going to use this opportunity to suggest that you click over there and vote for us, if only to give me a reason to buy a new dress for the awards ceremony. (There is a ceremony, right? If only for the sake of getting us bloggers off our asses/out of our houses? OK maybe if there’s no ceremony I’ll just throw a party of my own! Yes I can!) Feel free to bug us to vote every day via the Twitter feed, because as a lazy young person, I generally allow Facebook to remember things for me.

I gotta go there everyday now and make sure you guys win? Great.

@drinkypuss: Hey, I’d go myself if I could!

My mom thinks I get to make a speech and thank her if Hidden Track wins. Not quite, Mom.

    Congrats!

Any blog where I can hear about mainstream AND indie music without much condescension for either is the best music blog for me.

And today I was reminded that I can also get into a conversation about the NFL playoffs in the same place.

    Good luck guys!

I’ll vote for you guys, because you actually ARE the best. 2008 was my first full year of reading Idolator and I enjoyed it…it’s nice that people on here, writers and commenters, actually like to, you know, discuss stuff.

    Already voted 4 u. ;-)

I need to get out on the internets more often, as I hadn’t heard of any of those other blogs(except Stereogum) until today. A couple were actually pretty cool. I’m not sure why Guitar Noize is being considered a “music blog”, because the other nominated sites talk about music, not instruments.

Even though I don’t think they liked the word “blog”, Paperthinwalls should’ve gotten a nod, just as a tribute.

My vote has been cast. We have more work to do, my friends — we’re firmly ahead of Electroqueer, but falling behind Stereogum and Hidden Track. As someone who vastly enjoys victory parties, I implore you all to make your voice heard, ya dig?

This was pretty easy. I hadn’t heard of most of these, but after checking them out, you guys take this easy. WTF @ a few of these, though – “Guitar Noize” is not even a music blog, “I Guess I’m Floating” is some of the most ridiculous indie schmindie bullshit I’ve ever read, “9513″ is an lol “traditional country” blog, and “My Mood is Music” is essentially a fifteen year old’s first try at an urban music Tumblr.

    Done. Good Luck!
