I’m a big Roisin Murphy fan so I’m getting upset at all the attention Lady GaGa’s getting, given that Ms. Murphy hasn’t hit it big in the States yet. And I think it’s a dumb idea to constantly wear sunglasses so people can’t see your eyes. They’re the windows to your soul, right?

I heard “Just Dance” repeatedly on the radio before I knew who did it, and it is one of my favourite 5 songs in rotation on the local attempt at a top 40 station. Also, as an avid dancer with a bit of a drinky habit, it really speaks to me. It’s not great, but I feel it justifies my loser lifestyle.

@Rock You Like An Iracane: In GaGa's case the music speaks for itself: that is, it is horrible and needs no larger than life persona to further ruin it. The fact that Lady GaGa is an insufferable, arrogant twunt who would ruin pop if given the chance is a reason to hate HER, not the music.

@Chris Molanphy: Yep, that's it- straight out of "Deep House Dish." I heard "Just Dance" for the first time last weekend, and I was not impressed; I was expecting something cooler, given all of the hype. Much as I loathe Katy Perry, I'm fond of the instrumental portions of "I Kissed a Girl."

Rich at fourfour had a little breakdown of all of the places that GaGa is copping her style from.

@Nunya B: I honestly don't mind "Just Dance" all that much (insipid but catchy), but I do agree with you that GaGa's whole post-Grace Jones persona is a joke.

I was telling Maura a few weeks ago that she looks like a faux-club performer on Saturday Night Live's "Deep House Dish," played by Maya Rudolph.

That Lady GaGa song’s a decent pop hit, certainly better than Katy Perry’s dreck (yup, I’m coming around on how bad she really is, even if I can deal with “Hot N Cold”), and I’m not shocked that it’s a bunch of kids’ favorites.

But I’d really be interested to see more on “Let It Rock,” which burst onto radio and still swarms stations, has a Lil Wayne verse, and then appeared in that Rhapsody ad; could it have a long-tail effect from post-holidays single-song purchasers?
