Between the baby on the album cover and the small dogs running around the set of this video—which looks a lot like it was left over from Elastica’s “Connection” shoot—Morrissey has apparently decided to counteract his increasingly weathered-looking appearance (apparently even the most foppish Englishmen start to look like cabdrivers as they age) with an abundance of chubby youth. “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris” isn’t the best single from the album, it’s just the most Smiths-sounding one, but anything that results in a clarinet solo followed by an acrobatic tambourine flip is fine with me. Elastica (”Connection) and NIN (”March of the Pigs”) all pitched in with Moz to rent out the same soundstage for the day. I’m sure it was an interesting time at the craft services table.
I love that the pug-ish one wants nothing to do with the tambourine.
Somehow this is the first thing that came to my mind…
I always thought Morrissey was more of a cat man.
Boring video, but whatever. This songs rules and this album rules.
The chorus is to-die-for kind of stuff.
Morrissey videos are always low-key and inexplicable, so I guess this one fits right in. Not my choice of single, but I guess he led with rockers on the last couple albums so it’s fair to try something different. Still agreed that this record is pretty awesome, though. I’ve been listening to it a LOT.
Remake of Let’s Active “Every Word Means No” - 1985 deja vu all over again with infinite white background, jangly Marr-like guitar, and yes - Puppies!!!
