Boy George went from the courthouse to the jailhouse today after being sentenced to 15 months in prison for the false imprisonment charge he was convicted of in December. As you might remember, George tied up a male escort in his apartment and beat him for tampering with George’s laptop. In a somewhat suspicious legal tactic, George’s legal representation decided to not present evidence in his defense, which is probably something he might end up reconsidering over the next year and a quarterf. To remember happier times, the pop up video for Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?” and Fred Armisen’s impression of George are below the cut.
Apparently “The Church Of The Poison Mind” Is Actually A Jail Cell

I do wonder what his updated autobiography will be like.
Bernie Madoff can rip people off for 5 BILLION dollars and be allowed to stay in his swank apartment. The Bush/Cheney war criminal duo will never see the inside of a jail cell. Boy George gets 15 months. Seriously, what the fuck?
@NeverEnough: Well, uh, Boy George was convicted of a crime, whereas Madoff has not yet been convicted. Wouldn’t you want the right to be out on bail before you were convicted? (I’ll leave my Bush/Cheney comments for Wonkette.)
That SNL clip seemed to consist largely of Armisen and Seth Myers cracking each other up, Fallon-and-Sanz-style.
@How do I say this … THROWDINI!: How many people are behind bars right now awaiting trial on minor drug charges? I’d think that stealing $5B (which resulting in a lot of charities losing important funding and at least 2 people to kill themselves) merits jail.
@NeverEnough: How many people are behind bars right now awaiting trial on minor drug charges?
I agree that this is unfortunate (especially for minor drug charges), but its probably not as many as you think. Also, how many are not in jail awaiting trial? Putting Madoff in jail pre-conviction (and others charged, but not convicted) is signaling as a society that no one should get bail ever. Unless you want a rule that if you’re charged with stealing $5B, then no bail for you. Fine with me, but that’s not the rule now.
Also, don’t you think Boy George was out on bail before his conviction?
I’d think that stealing $5B (which resulting in a lot of charities losing important funding and at least 2 people to kill themselves) merits jail.
Agreed, and it will once he’s convicted. (Far from defending Madoff here, but those people killing themselves won’t be put at his doorstep. Well, at least not criminally, although probably karmically.)
@How do I say this … THROWDINI!: For this entire time, I thought that was Drake Hogestyn from “Days of our Lives” pictured in your icon. Duh.
But, yeah, I think we basically agree (although I will admit to having no objectivity whatsoever when it comes to Boy George. Any person capable of writing something as genuinely beautiful as “Time” should be forgiven for just about anything. :) ).

Ha, no. Its Kevin McDonald from Kids in the Hall, who played Throwdini in an episode of Newsradio. I can think of no better use of the internet than obscure Newsradio in-jokes. Well, that and fake nude pics of Katy Perry.
/I see a market for Free Boy George t-shirts developing
@How do I say this … THROWDINI!: “Free Boy George” is currently my default Facebook photo. Really.
@NeverEnough: From your lips (er, Facebook photo) to god’s ears…
