I was about to say something snarky about how I'm looking forward to anything good that I haven't ever heard before that hasn't been mentioned here.

Of course, what I really mean is that I'm happy that there's new stuff from Depeche Mode, Morrissey, Antony, Neko Case, Decemberists, Ted Leo, PJ Harvey, Grinderman (is that true?), Dirty Projectors, etc. on tap.

But what I'd really love to hear is something new and exciting out of left field that will give me faith that all new bands coming up aren't crap.

I am NOT looking forward to the continued needless hype over Titus Andronicus. Ugh.

Looking forward to the new Cure after their last one pleasantly surprised me.

Also, it's about time Boards Of Canada put something new out, isn't it?

A new Parish-PJ record is all I need, really. Dance Hall at Louse Point was soooo good, and soooo long ago. It'll be this year's Third if it stands up.

Also, the second New Amerykah disc should be sick.

@cassidy2099: I've actually heard that QotSA will be re-releasing their first self-titled album this year, with a tour to follow.

Word is that they'll use the tour to play said album in its entirety at every show.

Keep in mind, this is all secondhand information... It could be B.S...

@raihala: I'm sort of flabbergasted there are people who like Gahan's solo career(!) Maybe I need to go back to that second album and give it another listen.

It surprised even me when I heard how ominous it sounded at its best. I wouldn't say it's on the exact same level as Portishead's Third, say, but it's within shouting distance.

I am very much looking forward to the new PSB album, out in March. It seems like they're going for a "Very: 2009"-style record this time around.
