Yesterday’s Oprah wasn’t only notable for the Wondertwinning of David Foster and will.i.am; it also had Justin Timberlake proclaiming that the events of two months ago have resulted in America regaining its “swagger,” and becoming cool once again. Um, Justin, shouldn’t we wait at least until, I don’t know, Bromance gets canceled or something before we start going around and inflating this country’s self-image to ludicrous proportions? I’m just saying. (Also, all that talk about not caring about yesterday, and moving on to the future? Lance Bass, you may want to line up some activities for the coming months.) [via Defamer]

Gee, I thought the last eight years were all about swagger, albeit of the world-wrecking sort. (There’s a certain Jarvis Cocker song I’d like J.T. to hear.)
i still have no fucking clue who david foster is.
also, did anyone see Obama turn water into CHANGE and bread into HOPE, or is that just what CNN is conveying through the four hour long tantric orgasm i’ve been watching on television.
No one on the corner (Europe? The Arab Street?) has swagger like us (liberal-ish components of American society?).

C’mon, Maura. Bromance is exactly the kind of hilarity this country needs.
You take that Bromance comment back :’(
Stuff like that is why I find Justin so very easily hateable when he’s not just simply acting in something. (And even then he makes mistakes.)
@Ned Raggett: SNL aside, Justin’s acting career has been one long trainwreck so far: Southland Tales, The Love Guru, that direct-to-DVD thing with Kevin Spacey.
Mistakes as noted! Friend of mine who knew the actual principal figures portrayed in Alpha Dog says he did a very good job with his role in that one, though, which I’ve always kept in mind. He is at his best as a perfect light comedian, though.
I loved the hell out of Southland Tales…I’ve seen it numerous times and read the companion graphic novel. JT’s scene set to “All These Things I’ve Done” is possibly my favorite from the whole film. Yes, that’s right…film.
