Samwell’s “What What (In The Butt)” turns two years old next month, yet the YouTube star’s recently launched merchandise store is chock-full of items directly referencing that ode to behinds, like the inviting pair of briefs pictured above. While Samwell claims in his ad for the store that he thinks his shop’s opening is perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day, what does it say about the way going D.I.Y. on the Internet locks artists into their first big gesture, and dooms them to a lifetime of less-funny-over-time cameos, all referencing their first pinpricking of the YouTube masses’ flabby, sorta-bored consciousness? I guess we won’t find out until after Chris Crocker launches his eyeliner line.
