U2 Get In On The ’90s Revival

ARTIST: U2
TITLE: “No Line On The Horizon”
WEB DEBUT: Feb. 12, 2009

ONE-LISTEN VERDICT: The version of the title track from U2’s forthcoming album that leaked last night is apparently an alternate mix of the song that’s serving as a B-side for the “Get On Your Boots” single. There’s no “(Fly Like An Achtung Baby Mix)” appended to its title, although there really should be; the swirling guitars and storm-the-brigades bridge are straight out of a wobbly VHS copy of 120 Minutes, with the song’s only concession to current times coming at the very end, when Bono’s voice gets… AutoTuned? I can’t imagine what the final mix will sound like, but this version of the track is certainly catnip for anyone who misses the decade before this wretched one.

WHERE TO FIND IT: Music Is The Heart Of Our Soul.

I’m glad, by the way, that others noticed the similarity of “Get On Your Boots” to “Wild Wild West” by the Escape Club. That immediately struck me on first hearing the track, just like the “867-5309″/”Radio Nowhere” comparison.
